My work finds a relationship between the concrete and the abstract through the interplay of minimalist form and soft colors.
The essence of a concept can be reduced down to its most fundamental elements. Angled, rectangular panels, often made of wood, are passively affected by the natural light entering the room, thus emphasizing how color shifts and changes depending on its environment. Layers of acrylic paint sanded down to soft, pure tones evoke a sense of contemplation and openness, inviting viewers to engage in a thoughtful exploration of color, light, and form.
Each piece houses a moment of time or a certain understanding. Certain colors I find uncomfortable become new and engaging when applied to straightforward shapes and forms. I am rewriting these color connotations through distillation.
I live and work in Houston, Texas.
