Rain
once again disrupted the racing on the weekend of Sept.
23/24.
Saturday was a complete washout, so the qualifying heats
were moved to Sunday. The heats were just barely
completed when a downpour began so the remaining consis have
moved on to Friday
September 29th and the features to Saturday September 30th.
Katie started Heat #4 on the pole. In the 15 lap heat, the
#14 got caught up in a couple of incidents but suffered only
some fender damage that didn't slow it down. Katie ran down
and passed veteran racer Walt Hammond for third place and a
transfer to the feature.
KATIE REPORTS:
"The car felt awesome- our team was right on the money with
everything! Seems good to get on 10" tires! Looking forward
to this Saturday!" |

KATIE
REPORTS: "With 70 laps to go I was making great progress running on
the outside. While passing a car on the outside, contact between us
sent me spinning. I tried to save it but after getting up high into
3rd groove with lots of debris, I couldn't straighten it out.
Unfortunately the hit was so hard it broke my gas pedal from the
firewall on. This was our first DNF of the season, but was thankful
that it was not a points race. We're looking forward to the PASS
Outlaw race at Beech Ridge on Sept. 24." |

In the 150 lap ACT Tour race, Katie started 23rd and finished
in
19th
out of 32 starters.
KATIE REPORTS:
"The American Canadian Tour race went well, we achieved what we
wanted to -- to finish -- and in one piece at that. We gained quite
a few positions during the race. I started in the rear and worked my
way up through traffic as best as we could. We were feeling pretty
good about the race before it had even started considering we raced
our way into the show. I was happy with the car and progressively
learning every time I'm in the seat. We are gaining!" |
